The Opportunity
An entertainment and cultural heritage venture held the rights to a compelling, untold origin story rooted in 1970s New York City — a story that sat at the intersection of immigration, family, music, and cultural revolution. The principals had already staged an Off-Broadway production and formed a band, demonstrating proof of concept and audience appetite across generations. But there was no structured strategy to turn the story into a scalable, multi-platform intellectual property — and no production entity to house, protect, and commercialize the rights.
The venture needed a strategic partner who could see the full picture: someone who could build the production roadmap, advise on entity formation, develop investor-ready materials, and lead outreach to major studios and streamers — all while keeping the creative vision intact.

Approach:
Drawing on our experience advising organizations through complex, multi-stakeholder growth phases — across industries from food systems to healthcare to technology — we approached this engagement the way we would any corporate transformation: with a clear strategy, disciplined prioritization, and an eye on long-term value creation.
We developed a comprehensive production portfolio strategy that prioritized five distinct production verticals — podcast, documentary, live events, music, and scripted series — and sequenced them by profitability, time to market, and their ability to grow the audience for the next production in the pipeline. Each production was designed to reinforce the others: the podcast builds awareness, the music creates commercial reach, the live event generates revenue and media moments, and the scripted series represents the long-term premium opportunity.
We codified this approach in a strategic framework — Focus, Accelerate, Strengthen, Tie Together — which became the operating blueprint for the venture’s production and marketing decisions.
Narrative Reframing
Beyond structuring the portfolio, we identified that the venture’s original narrative positioning needed to evolve to meet the market and the cultural moment. We led a strategic reframing of how the story was being told — shifting the narrative from its theatrical origins toward a format and tone that would resonate with contemporary audiences, industry decision-makers, and media. This reframing directly informed the repositioning of the original Off-Broadway production into a new live showcase concept designed for industry and media audiences, which went on to receive a five-star review.
Entity Formation and IP Structuring
We managed the advisory process for establishing the venture’s production entity as a New York limited liability company, working closely with legal counsel to structure the operating agreement, define ownership, and ensure that intellectual property rights were organized for ease of onboarding future partners and investors.
Investor and Studio Strategy
We developed the investor deck and the strategic pitch narrative for meetings with major studios and streaming platforms. This included the series logline, season arc, character development, market positioning, and comparable property analysis. We also led the commissioning of the miniseries pilot script from an award-winning screenwriter at a leading film school, overseeing the review process and coordinating feedback from industry experts.
